As a reminder now that we are a few weeks into the school year, ParentSquare is the one-stop shop for all the things you need to know or do. In ParentSquare you will find information that is being shared by teachers and administration. You will also find posts to make payments for everything such as field trips, spirit wear, lost items, and registration fees. This is also where you will sign permission slips for field trips and activities. The only two items you will not find in ParentSquare and will still need to log into PowerSchool to find are your student's grades and the place to update your contact information.

Later this week we will be emailing outstanding fee notices. You can always check this via the fee screen in PowerSchool and can pay fees at any time with the payment post located in ParentSquare. There will also be a link to pay right from fee balance statement. If you need to pay overtime, that is okay. When you go to pay just enter the amount you would like to go towards your outstanding balance. If you have questions, there will be contact information on the statements.

This week, our littles celebrated Dot Day with some of our older friends in the building and created some great relationships. We also began teaching the students the numbers 1 - 10 and their colors in Spanish. We have been using fun songs and repetition to help them learn. We will continue to work on these concepts all year long to build and retain these skills. We look forward to finding fun new ways to include Spanish and other languages in our classroom.
One other fun activity we did was read the Dr. Seuss's book "Ten Apples Up on Top" and utilized apples in super fun and creative ways.

Last Friday, our second graders created and designed their own volcanoes and then experimented with how to make them erupt. This was the students' culminating activity after learning about volcanoes and reading a story titled "My Mouth is a Volcano" to help teach them self-control of their minds, bodies, and mouths. The fun is evident in the smiles:)

Dot Day at Nathan Hale means working together, building confidence, expressing joy, and being reminded that our ideas matter. Every "mark" we make is important. Please ask your child to tell you about Dot Day. Enjoy the photos and see how your child has left their "mark."
