Annual Multicultural Event Recap

Sunnybrook’s first Multicultural Event was an incredible success, bringing together students, families, and staff from both Nathan Hale and Heritage Schools for an evening filled with culture, creativity, and community pride.

Student performances were outstanding, showcasing the diverse talents and traditions that make our district so special. The “Around the World” crafts were a huge hit, giving families a fun, hands-on way to explore and celebrate cultures from across the globe.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who helped plan, organize, and support this event, and an extra shout-out to our amazing ELL Department for their dedication and hard work in making it all come together. Their vision and teamwork turned a celebration into an unforgettable experience for all.

Nathan Hale Updates:

1st STEAM Fest was a Huge Success

What an amazing K–2 STEAM Fest! Guests participated in ten hands-on activities packed with creativity, curiosity, and pure fun! The students and their family members were fully engaged and absolutely loved every minute.

Nathan Hale Student Council

The Nathan Hale Student Council held a Breast Cancer research fundraiser for Pinktober! They sold Breast Cancer slap bracelets for $1.00 each and raised $175 to donate to the foundation. They also celebrated three Nathan Hale teachers who are Breast Cancer survivors by decorating their doors and making signs and posters. They even shared their stories on the morning announcements. Great job 4th-grade Student Council Members!!

Heritage Updates:

Seventh Grade Math

On Tuesday, October 21, seventh graders participated in Murder Mystery Math Centers. Students found themselves in a situation where they had to solve a series of puzzles to question everyone and everything to find the culprit in their classrooms. Students wore characters' name badges with information that was used to find them either innocent or guilty. Their math skills with integer operations and the Pythagorean Theorem were put to the test to solve the "Whodunnit" mystery.

Heritage Soccer Club Attend a Chicago State Men’s Soccer Game

Heritage soccer players experienced a high level soccer match, met the Chicago State head Coach, got to kick a ball around on the field during halftime, and were given the opportunity to be ball shaggers. Big shoutout to CSU for having us!

Soccer Club Update

The third annual Heritage Cup is underway! The four teams this year are the Goon Squad, FC 67, World Cup Boys, and the 67ers. Best of luck to all teams!!

Heritage Student Council Gets Their Year Started

Delegates from HMS Student Council kicked off the year with a Fall Dance featuring NJHS pumpkin sales. Fall decor, tasty concession options, painted pumpkins, and good vibes were celebrated by 6th-8th graders and staff. Student Council appreciates all who attended, supervised, and contributed to the success of the first event of the school year. Look out for more activities sponsored by your HMS Student Council!

The HMS Chorus is in Full Effect!

The HMS Chorus is going strong for the 2025–2026 school year! Chorus meets every Friday from 3:00–4:00 p.m. and once a week during 7th period lunch in Mrs. Peel’s room.

On Tuesday, October 28, our chorus performed two beautiful pieces, “Siyahamba,” a South African hymn, and “Oye,” a lively Spanish song celebrating the hopes and dreams of children, at the Districtwide Multicultural Fest.

Be sure to catch our next performance at the Winter Band & Choir Concert on Thursday, December 4, where we’ll be singing some of your favorite holiday songs!

Heritage Family Literacy Night

Join us from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6 at Heritage for our annual Family Literacy Night.

It will be an exciting evening where reading and technology come together! Enjoy light refreshments, explore the Book Fair, win raffle prizes, and take part in fun, hands-on literacy activities for the whole family. Don’t miss this chance to “reboot” your love for books and learning!

No School - Parent/Teacher Conferences

There will be no school on Monday, November 10 due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. Conferences are from 12:00-4:00 & 5:00-7:00. Please reference the posts from your child's/children's teacher(s) regarding signing up or specifics related to Parent/Teacher Conference slots.
