District News and Updates

Registration for the 2026 - 2027 School Year is Now Open!

It is that time of year again to register for next school year. Please log into PowerSchool and complete the registration process.

When you log into PowerSchool, click on Forms on the left-hand side of the screen, and then click on the Registration tab. Then please complete each form. Most forms you are just reviewing, so the registration process should take less than 5 minutes to complete. Please pay special attention to Form 3 as this is the Parent Contact form. We want to make sure we have accurate information in case of emergencies and for student pick up.

At the time of registration, you will not need to upload any residency documents. The main office will contact you if residency documents are needed.

If you need help logging into PowerSchool or need technical assistance, please email support@sd171.org. If you have questions regarding the registration process, please contact your child's main office.

Registering early helps the District greatly with planning for the next school year, so we ask that everyone register as soon as possible. Thank you.

Nathan Hale Updates:

Kindergartens Having Fun Learning About Flowers

Mrs. Lee's class enjoyed painting their classroom mural as they recently learned all about flowers and plants as well as weather! Our friends also created cute handprint chicks for the first day of April to include in their portfolios.

Mad Science Day Update

The 4th Grade Classes at Nathan Hale celebrated Mad Science Day by creating Marble Roller Coasters! Using what they learned about Energy, Forces and Motion, they put together a coaster that included hills, loops and twists! Their end goal was to make sure their riders (the marbles) made it to the end of the track without falling off! All the students had a blast testing and retesting their designs, and many attempted to create double and triple loop coasters! We may have some future engineers here!

Men and Math Wrap-Up

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Sunnybrook continued its tradition of inviting families to join us for math explorations and activities. This year we focused on the men in our learning community, and the event was a huge success. Dads, uncles, staff, and even 8th grade male students worked in the classrooms at Nathan Hale to provide support and encouragement to our students during a variety of math lessons.

Kindergarten students built shapes using Play-Doh and toothpicks. They also measured items using non traditional measurement tools. First graders worked on patterns using colored cubes and hundreds charts. Additionally, second graders collected live data and displayed it using the results from bowling and dart games, while third grade explored fractions and challenge cards. Finally, our fourth graders brought the activities to a close with some March Madness styled trashketball and stat tracking.

It was such a pleasure to see the men of our community step in and be excited to volunteer to work with our students. Their impact was felt and truly appreciated. We cannot wait to see what our next math adventure will be!

Heritage Updates:

Sneaker Ball Success!

The recent Sneaker Ball, hosted with members of the House of Amamihe and the House of Àtinúdá, was an unforgettable event filled with style, energy, and school spirit! Students truly dressed to impress, pairing elegant attire with their most eye-catching, flashy sneakers—creating a fun and unique twist on formal fashion.

The night was full of excitement as students danced, enjoyed delicious snacks, and spent time celebrating together. Laughter and music filled the space, and it was clear that everyone had an amazing time.

Events like the Sneaker Ball continue to bring our school community closer together, providing students with an opportunity to express themselves, connect with others, and create lasting memories. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
